what is the ultra monitor showing you as far as A/F ratio when its hooked up? maybe try disconnecting /unsoldering the J&S from the o2 line and see if it runs better. it really sounds like a wiring problem.

Jay,
Check the continuity of all FOUR wires from the O2 sensor back to the ECU... if any of them do not tone out, then re-run new wires to the O2 sensor. If you do in fact get good tone, then check any electronic "gizmos" that are teed into the O2 signal wire, such as your J&S, gauges, etc. You may disconnect them to see if the problem quits.
Also, if you have an OBD-1 car... this could be a totally different (un-related) problem, so check ALL wiring at your "gizmos" to make sure every connection is satisfactory.
If it still kicks your ass... I am only about six hours away !!!
LOL
